My Meeting With the Loch Ness Monster

Part 1-You Can’t Get Anywhere without Begging

“Please Mom, please?” I begged by mom. I really want to go to Scotland. I had been begging my mom for what feels like 1 hour. I have heard that they have the best dancing programs and my Aunt Emily said that I will be a true Scottish dancer when I grow up (she had been a great Scottish dancer when she was young)!

“Sarah, you know how much work it is for me when I have to take care of the entire family, there will be sickness and-and- you know,” My mom sounded like she was getting frustrated. My mom always broke in at some point. All that I needed was that classic final touch.

"PLEEEEEAAAAAAAAAA-"

“FINE!”

I couldn’t help myself. I broke out into a big smile and hugged my mom so tight she would have died if it wasn’t for the love.

“When do we leave?” I asked. I loved airplane rides. I couldn’t wait to get those freebees for kids, see those “dollhouses” from above, and zoom across the Dulles Airport Runway!
“We could go sometime next week, the weather is very stormy this week and I have to write grade 125 student report cards this week,” My mom is an elementary school teacher and she always has one thing or another to do.

“Okay mom, goodnight!” I had to compromise; I had already gotten my share. I can’t wait for next week’s flight! I broke out into another huge grin and went to bed. Little did I know that something more than just dancing was waiting for me in Scotland.

Part 2-The Monster

Before I knew it, we were out of the airport, and in Scotland!

“Sarah, can you wait outside for a moment while I collect my student’s faxed tests?”

“Okay mom,” I was waiting for that! I waited until my mother stepped into the building and closed the door behind her before I started exploring Scotland. It wasn’t long before I came across a vast area of water. I wanted to take a picture, it had a beautiful view, but alas- I had no camera. I smelled something funny. Normally when you go near a body of water it either smells salty or fishy. This particular smell was neither. Suddenly, I heard a noise.

I whipped around. I saw a huge green eel like object poking its head out of the water, except it did not look very much like an eel at all. It had a rounded body, a slippery surface of its scaly skin, and unusual hair. I knew this- the Loch Ness monster! My Aunt’s Scottish Dance Club is called the Loch Ness Monster! Aunt Emily said that they weren’t real, but here it is! Wait, MONSTER?! Uh Oh.

It swished around in the water, looking as if it was throwing a fit! Aaaahhhhh! I knew that my days were numbered.

“Sarah? Wake up, the taxi to take us to the airport is here,” I recognized my mom’s voice. I opened up my eyes.

“Whew,” My mom breathed a sigh of relief and hugged me. “I was beginning to get worried. You were screaming, tossing and turning! Well, you’d better get dressed,”

The After Scare-A week later I had come back from my dance camp and everyone said that I was the best dancer there. My mom and my Aunt bought me a figure of the Loch Ness Monster there. This will be a trip that I will remember throughout my entire life!
